Four Punjabis among those who bribed to get truck driving licenses in Canada

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested eight people, including four Punjabis, in connection with a long-running scheme to bribe people to pass truck driving tests in cities across Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area. Jaspal Benipal (58), Harmandeep Sudan (40), Navdeep Grewal (36) of Brampton and Mandeep Manashahia (34) of Caledon are among the eight accused who are accused of helping unqualified people obtain licenses to drive trucks or other vehicles by accepting bribes. The men would make deals with license aspirants and pass their road tests by ignoring their mistakes. The Ontario Provincial Police have been targeting cases of bribery to pass road tests since provincial Transport Minister Prabhmeet Singh Sarkaria asked police to take action.

It is worth mentioning here that although some rules for getting a driving license are different in the provinces of Canada, in order to get a license, in each province you first have to pass a knowledge test about road rules and then take a road test, during which an officer of the department sits in the vehicle with the examiner and drives the vehicle for 40 minutes and only if the performance is good, you pass. Examiners from many countries, including India, have to take several tests to pass. In previous years, in Ontario, a license was given along with a license to drive a truck or bus, but from this year, like other provinces, a condition of a three-year light vehicle license has been implemented there.
