India's befitting reply to Pakistan: Tolerating the use of terrorism as a state policy is not normal

In a strongly worded response at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), India has said that it is not normal for Pakistan to continue to tolerate terrorism as an instrument of state policy and New Delhi has given a befitting reply to the “false and selfish” narrative presented by Islamabad’s envoy on ‘Operation Sindhur’.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish has hit back sharply at Pakistani Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed’s remarks. Harish said that as an elected member of the Security Council, Pakistan has only one agenda – to harm India and its people. He made it clear that terrorism can never be normalised as Pakistan wants and India will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of its citizens.

Harish rejected the incorrect details given by the Pakistani envoy about 'Operation Sindhur' launched by India in May last year and said that this action was taken in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April 2025, in which 26 innocent civilians were killed.

He said that India's action was measured and responsible, aimed at destroying the terrorist infrastructure and after the damage caused by this action, the Pakistani army itself called the Indian army on May 10 and appealed to it to stop the fighting.

On the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, India reiterated that it is an integral part of India and Pakistan has no right to comment on India's internal affairs. On the Indus Waters Treaty, he said that due to Pakistan's continuous violation of the spirit of the treaty through terrorist attacks, India is forced to keep this treaty in abeyance until Pakistan completely eliminates terrorism.
