Modi did not call Trump, hence India-US trade deal not done: Lutnik

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has said that the trade deal with India could not be done because Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not call US President Donald Trump. In an interview given to the ‘All-in Podcast’ on Thursday, Lutnick explained in detail why the India-US trade deal has not been done yet.

Lutnick said, “I will tell you a story about India. I had done the first deal with the UK and we told the UK that they have to complete this work by the next two Fridays. That the train will leave the station by two Fridays, because I have a lot of other countries working on it, and you know, if someone else comes first, they are first. President Trump makes deals like stairs.” He said, “The first person on the stairs gets the best deal. You can’t get the best deal after the first person.”
