It will be difficult to improve relations with India if the border remains bloody: Bangladesh

A senior adviser to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahman said on Sunday that Dhaka wants "friendly relations" with New Delhi, while expressing concern over the killing of two Bangladeshi nationals on the border with India last week.

Two suspected Bangladeshi smugglers were shot dead by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura's Sepahijala district on Friday night. The bodies were later handed over to their relatives through Kamalasagar BOP in the presence of BSF and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) officials.

"We want friendly relations, but good relations cannot be maintained if the border continues to be a source of bloodshed," Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the prime minister's political adviser, said on Sunday.
