Middle East Conflict: In view of the ongoing war in West Asia and the disruption in air routes, the Indian government has made a big announcement for foreign nationals stranded in the country. According to the Indian Embassy in Dubai, foreign nationals whose visas are expiring will be given a free visa extension of 30 days. In addition, no fine will be charged for ‘overstay’ (staying too long) due to the war after February 28. Officials have clarified that ‘exit permits’ will also be issued to these citizens without any fee when air routes open. This decision has come at a time when the airspace of Gulf countries is partially closed due to ongoing missile and drone attacks between Israel, the US and Iran. Airlines like Qatar Airways are operating very limited flights, due to which hundreds of passengers are inconvenienced. India has also announced that if any flight is diverted to India, passengers will be given a free ‘Temporary Landing Permit’ (TLP). This war has severely affected oil supplies and air traffic globally.
