Punjab Police Brings Back Extradited Gangster Amrit Dalm from Europe

  In a first-of-its-kind extradition from a European nation, the Punjab Police—in coordination with central agencies and international partners—successfully brought back fugitive gangster Amrit Dalm from the Republic of Moldova on Friday. Dalm is a close associate of 'A-category' gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that Dalm is wanted in seven murder cases and multiple instances of attempted murder; additionally, cases have been registered against him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Arms Act, the Explosives Act, and the NDPS Act.

A four-member team from the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF)—led by SP Bikramjit Singh Brar and comprising Inspector Pushvinder Singh, Sub-Inspector Jaspreet Singh, and ASI Varinder Kumar—executed the extradition operation. The team spent seven days in Moldova holding meetings with local officials to complete extradition formalities before transporting the accused via a transit route through Baku, Azerbaijan. The team arrived at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday morning.

Police officials stated that this operation marks a significant milestone for the force, as it is the first successful extradition of a fugitive from a European country. It highlights the growing coordination among state police, central agencies, and international law enforcement agencies in tracking down gangsters operating from abroad.
