Rajnath calls for preparedness to deal with crisis

  Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has stressed on ensuring medium to long-term preparedness and speeding up decision-making to deal with the impact of the ever-changing situation in West Asia. He chaired the first meeting of the informal High-powered Group of Ministers (IGOM) set up to monitor the situation in West Asia.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Power Minister Manohar Lal and Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister JP Nadda were also present on the occasion. Apart from this, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Pralhad Joshi, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu and Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh participated in the deliberations.

According to an official statement, the Group of Ministers reviewed the changing situation and its impact on various sectors. The Defence Minister stressed the need for a proactive, coordinated and forward-looking approach and spoke about the importance of staying alert in the face of changing circumstances.
