Terrible accident in America, plane crashes and sinks; three people die

  A small plane crashed in eastern Nebraska, killing three people. Authorities said the small plane crashed into a river Friday night.

How it happened

The plane was traveling along the Platte River when it crashed into the water south of Fremont at about 8:15 p.m., Dodge County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Bree Frank said at a news conference.

Frank confirmed that three bodies had been recovered. Authorities did not immediately release the identities of the victims.

The sheriff's office said the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will oversee the investigation near Fremont, about 59.5 miles west of Omaha.
