The air pollution crisis in the National Capital Region is once again escalating. Despite several restrictions, farmers have once again started burning stubble. Within a week, 63 such incidents have been reported in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Worryingly, the wind direction has also changed towards the northwest. This means that the winds blowing from the northwest will change towards the south. As a result, the stubble smoke will soon reach the NCR. According to meteorologists, as soon as the southwest monsoon starts to depart from north India, the wind direction has also changed towards the northwest. This wind comes from the Himalayan mountains, i.e. Jammu and Kashmir. This wind not only brings the coolness of the mountains, but also brings the smoke of stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana to Delhi. Apart from this, along with the northwest wind, dust from Rajasthan, Pakistan and Afghanistan also reaches the NCR. According to environmentalists, pollution will gradually increase due to these weather conditions. Currently, the Air Quality Index of Delhi NCR is being recorded above 100, i.e. in the 'moderate' category. By the last week of the month, it may cross 200 and reach the 'poor' category.
