External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has commented on the policies of the country's first Prime Minister. He said that the 'Nehru Development Model' essentially gives rise to the 'Nehru Foreign Policy' and 'we want to improve it abroad, just as we are trying to improve the results of this model at home.' Jaishankar said these things during his address at the release of the book 'The Nehru Development Model' by former NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya. The Union Minister said, the model and the narrative associated with it have influenced our politics, bureaucracy, planning system, judiciary, public space including media and most of all education. Jaishankar's statement on Russia and China Jaishankar also said that today both Russia and China clearly reject the economic concepts of that time, which they did a lot to propagate. Yet this belief still seems to be alive among the influential sections of our country. He said, "Certainly, there have been strong efforts to reform the curriculum since 2014, but the authors claim with good reason that it is still a difficult task." 'We will fix the Nehru model abroad' In his address, the minister added, "The Nehru development model essentially shaped Nehru's foreign policy. "We want to achieve this abroad, just as we try to improve the results of the model at home.
