In the first week of June this year, the Boeing Starliner spacecraft carried Sunita and Butch into space. NASA has informed that it will bring the two stranded astronauts back to Earth in February 2025. Along with this, presidential elections are to be held on November 5 in America. It is worth mentioning that both the American astronauts will also participate in the voting process. Both astronauts will vote On Friday, the two astronauts held a press conference from space. Speaking to the media, Butch Wilmore said, I just started the process of sending my ballot today. It's an important duty and NASA makes sure we can vote. Sunita Williams also said that she too is excited to vote. Understand the whole process Since 1997, NASA astronauts have been voting in elections from the space station. Astronauts are voting via electronic ballots from an orbiting laboratory aboard the space station. Electronic ballots are sent via satellite frequency to the space station, after which astronauts cast their votes. The electronic ballots are then sent back to Earth. These votes are encrypted before being sent to NASA's Mission Control Center in Houston. It is then forwarded to the appropriate county clerk. The first astronaut to cast his vote from the space station In 1997, Texas lawmakers passed a law allowing NASA astronauts to vote in space. David Wolff was the first person to vote from space. He voted from the Mir space station.
