Slovakia's Prime Minister injured in shooting, four bullets were fired outside the House of Culture; Suspect in custody

  The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, was injured in the firing on Wednesday afternoon. He has been taken to hospital. Slovak TV station TA3 reported that four shots were fired outside the House of Culture in the town of Handlova, about 150 kilometers northeast of the capital. Meanwhile, 59-year-old Fico was shot in the stomach. A meeting was being held with his supporters here. A suspect has been detained in the case. The police have sealed off the incident site. Slovak TASR news agency said that Parliament Deputy Speaker Lubos Blaha confirmed the incident during a session of Parliament and postponed it until further notice.
