  New York: A 42-year-old man of Indian origin in America was shot dead by the police in San Antonio. The young man hit two officers with his vehicle when the police arrived to arrest him for aggravated assault on his female roommate. On April 21, Sachin Kumar Sahu was shot dead by police officer Tyler Turner in San Antonio, Texas, after which he was pronounced dead at the scene. Sachin was shot several times The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office said Sachin Kumar Sahu died of multiple gunshot wounds during a standoff with police last weekend, the San Antonio Express-News reports. Sachin Kumar Sahu originally hailed from Uttar Pradesh. Sources said he may be an American citizen. According to preliminary investigation, a report of assault with a deadly weapon was received on April 21 before 6:30 pm, the San Antonio Police Department said in a statement to PTI. Police officers were then dispatched to a home in Cheviot Heights, San Antonio. Upon arrival officers found a 51-year-old woman who had been deliberately hit by a vehicle, which was blamed on Sachin Sahu who fled the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. San Antonio police detectives issued an arrest warrant for Sahu in that incident. A few hours later, the neighbors informed the police over the phone that Sachin had returned to his original location. Officers arrived and attempted to make contact with him when he struck two officers with his BMW SUV. An officer fired his weapon, killing him instantly. The policeman was taken to the hospital One officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Meanwhile, another officer was treated on the spot. No one else was injured during the incident. Police said that further investigation is being conducted. Police Chief Bill McManus said Sachin hit the woman, her roommate, with his vehicle. The woman was undergoing several surgeries and her condition was critical. Police had issued an arrest warrant against Sachin and some officers went to his known location on April 21 to arrest him, McManus said. There, as soon as Sachin saw the police, he jumped into his car and pulled out of his driveway. After this, the policemen stopped him with their vehicles but he managed to escape from there. There he hit the officers with his vehicle. Another officer present opened fire to stop him, killing Sachin. The ex-wife told about Sachin's illness, saying that the police are yet to see the bodycam footage to know more facts. A report by news website Kens5.com quoted Sahu's ex-wife Leah Goldstein as saying that Sachin suffered from bipolar disorder. He was suffering from this disease for 10 years. Sachin also had symptoms of schizophrenia. Ex-wife Goldstein has described Sachin as a great father. According to him, he could not understand what was wrong with him. He could hear voices. After becoming a mother, I was a stay-at-home mom for many years, Goldstein said. Meanwhile, Sachin took care of us.
