According to The Korea Times, a man in his 50s died of Naegleria fowleri, also known as the 'Brain Eating Amoeba', after returning from Thailand. A Korean citizen died after returning from Thailand, according to a 'News Outlet' report with reference to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Significantly, the man spent a total of four months in Thailand before returning to Korea two weeks ago on December 10. When the patient returned, symptoms of meningitis began to appear that evening—such as headache, fever, vomiting, slurred speech, and neck stiffness—and he was shifted to the emergency room the next day. He was admitted to the hospital the next day and died on December 21.
