  The Supreme Court has taken strict action against a petitioner for wasting court time and filing a misleading petition. The court while hearing the case dismissed the petition by imposing a fine of Rs 25,000 on the petitioner. In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, it was claimed that political parties are misusing election symbols during elections and the Election Commission should be restrained from allotting election symbols to political parties. It was also claimed that election marks should be allotted to the contesting candidates by the Returning Officer. Showing strictness on this petition, the court has imposed a fine of 25 thousand rupees on the petitioner. It may be mentioned that the petitioner raised objections against political parties using religious names and symbols.
