Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has given a big relief to the famous Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi in the pigeon racing case. The High Court has stayed the sentence awarded by the lower court. In July, the Additional Sessions Judge of Patiala dismissed Mehndi's appeal against the sentence, after which he had to go to jail. On March 16, 2018, the lower court of Patiala convicted him in a 19-year-old case of human trafficking and sentenced him to two years in prison. Against this sentence, Daler Mehndi challenged the same by filing an appeal before the Additional Sessions Judge, Patiala. After hearing the appeal for four years, the Additional Sessions Judge dismissed Daler Mehndi's appeal in July and ordered the conviction to be upheld. Now Daler Mehndi challenged this decision of dismissing the appeal by filing a revision petition in the High Court.
