New Delhi: The issue of halal certification has once again come up in the Supreme Court. He questioned why people of other religions have to pay more for products with halal certificates.

Know the full case
In fact, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said before the division bench of Justices BR Gavai and Augustine George Masih, which is hearing petitions challenging the issuance of halal certificates on the manufacture, storage, sale, distribution and distribution of food products in Uttar Pradesh, that as far as halal meat is concerned, no one has any objection. But Judge Sahib, you will be surprised to know that halal certificates are also being issued to cement and iron bars.

Certificates are also being issued to wheat and flour
Agencies are charging huge amounts for halal certificates and the amount spent in this process is up to a few lakh crore rupees. Even flour and gram flour are being given halal certificates. After all, how can gram flour and flour be halal or non-halal? The petitioners' counsel said that in the eyes of the Central Government, it is a matter of lifestyle. No one is pressurizing anyone. This is an alternative system.

The division bench was told that the Central Government has filed its affidavit in this matter. On this, the Supreme Court has asked the petitioner to file a reply within four weeks. The matter will be heard in the week starting March 24.
