Bomb Threat: Threat of bombing more than 50 planes in a day, rerouting two flights; Investigating agencies alert

  New Delhi: At least 50 planes of Indian Airlines received a bomb threat on Sunday. Two of them were turned away. More than 380 flights have received such false threats in 14 days. Due to this domestic and international flights are affected. Most of the threats were made through internet media. Acasa Air said 15 of its flights had received safety alerts and all aircraft were found fit to operate after thorough checks. 18 flights of IndiGo and 17 of Vistara have received threats. At least two IndiGo flights were diverted following the threat, an official said. The flight from Pune to Jodhpur was diverted to Ahmedabad and the flight from Kozhikode to Dammam (Saudi Arabia) was diverted to Mumbai.

The bomb threat was received for the fourth time in 10 days
This is the fourth time in the last 10 days that a flight landing at Jodhpur airport has received a bomb threat. The flight was landed in Ahmedabad and after a security check the threat was found to be fake.

Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said in Visakhapatnam that the central government is taking steps to ban criminals who make false bomb threats. Those involved in such activities will be severely punished and fined.

The government is banning flying
The government is also taking steps to prevent such people from flying. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating two flights between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, Naidu said the government is taking the help of international agencies, law enforcement branches and intelligence bureaus to curb these fake threats. Apart from this, the government is also considering amending two civil aviation laws.
