Swachh Bharat Diwas: Dirt will not be seen on trains and railway stations, special cleaning campaign will start from today

  New Delhi: On the occasion of Father of the Nation Gandhi Jayanti, every year Railways conducts Swachhta Hi Seva campaign. This time this special cleaning campaign will start from September 14 and continue till October 1. This time the theme of Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan is 'Swasath Swachhta - Sanskar Swachhta'. Gandhi Jayanti will be celebrated as 'Clean India Day' on October 2.

Under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign, various activities will be conducted in divisions, factories and other units of Northern Railway. Sanitation campaign will be conducted through shramdaan at railway stations, offices, railway colonies, health units and railway tracks.

Swachhta Chaupal will be installed in the villages

Swachhata Chaupal will be installed in the villages located around the railway stations, through which the villagers will be made aware about cleanliness in trains and railway stations. Under this Swachhta Hi Seva campaign, health check-up camps will be organized for the benefit of sanitation workers and their families.

Marathon, cyclothon, sports competition and tree planting campaign will be organized. Special emphasis will be placed on reduce, reuse, recycle activities and creating artwork from waste and selling recycled products. Selfie points will be installed at the stations.

Passengers and employees will be made aware about cleanliness

Passers-by and employees will be made aware about cleanliness by performing a corner play at the oath-taking ceremony. Events like zero waste initiatives at railway stations and other railway complexes will be highlighted and shared through digital platforms.

Poetry, essay, painting and poster competitions will be conducted to spread awareness among the youth. Slogan writing, quiz and jingle competitions will be conducted in educational institutes/schools/anganwadi centers etc.
