'Need to understand capacity of courts'

Justice Chandrachud, speaking at an event, said that it is very good to have expectations from citizens, but "we need to understand the capacity as well as the limitations of the courts as institutions". He said that while law can be an instrument of justice, law can also be an instrument of oppression. Today, law books can be used as tools of oppression.

"I think the main thing is how we handle the law, which involves all decision makers, not just judges," the CJI said.
