India has started preparations to host the Olympics in 2036. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has expressed his intention to use maximum Make in India sports products in this. Meerut and Jalandhar are two important cities of the country, which are the strongholds of the sports goods industry. There are MSME units in both the cities. The capacity of the sports goods manufacturing industrialists and the skill of the people working with them is such that in almost all sports events of the world, the brands or products made here take any country ahead in the medal tally. Now is the time to focus on Built Brand India. The government should support Indian companies in building global brands. The sports industry can be encouraged by including tax exemption for a few days, additional discounts and the Built-Brand India scheme. According to the Sports Products Export Promotion Council, the export of sports products has increased by 3.42 percent so far in the current financial year compared to the previous year. About one and a half lakh people are employed in the sports industries of Jalandhar, while in Meerut this number is two and a half lakh. If the government encourages the sports industries, the business can increase by 15 to 20 percent.
