JK Encounter: Lashkar terrorist Junaid Bhat, involved in Ganderbal massacre, killed in encounter

  Srinagar: In a major security breakthrough, a terrorist involved in the recent killing of six employees and a doctor at a residential camp of a private company in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir, was killed in an encounter by security forces. The terrorist, identified as Junaid Ahmed Bhat, was allegedly linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba group, according to an NDTV report. Bhat was also linked to several terror attacks, including in Gagangir and other areas. The encounter took place after a cordon and search operation (CASO) led by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. A senior police officer confirmed to NDTV, "A Lashkar terrorist, Junaid Ahmed Bhat, listed as an 'A' category terrorist, has been neutralised." The officer further said that Bhat, a resident of Kulgam in Kashmir, had been missing for a year. He was later seen carrying an AK-series assault rifle in the CCTV footage during the Ganderbal attack.
