Four killed, 50 injured, including a Sikh from Amritsar in Canada bus accident

  Toronto: Four people, including a Sikh from Amritsar, died and 50 others were injured in a bus accident on a snow-covered highway in British Columbia on Christmas Eve. The condition of two of the injured is serious. Canadian officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the dead, but the editor of a Punjabi newspaper in Surrey said that 41-year-old Karanjot Singh Sodhi of Butala, Amritsar, died in the accident. Gurpreet Singh Sahota, editor of Akal Guardian newspaper published from Surrey, wrote on his Twitter handle, "He was a resident of Butala Amritsar. He came to Canada on a work permit in September. Sodhi was working as a chef in a restaurant in Okanagan Winery.' Sahota also wrote, 'Sodhi left behind his wife, one son and one daughter in his village in Punjab. Considering the bus journey to be safe, they boarded it.
