  New Delhi: Maryam Nawaz has recently been appointed as the senior vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party. With this promotion, she will continue the political legacy of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. However, due to this decision, there is great restlessness in the experienced leadership of the second level of the party. Sources said that no consultation was done before this appointment. According to a report in The News, Maryam Nawaz has now become the third most powerful figure in the party after her father Nawaz Sharif and uncle of current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The News reported that many senior leaders of the party are upset with this appointment. The Supreme Court imposed strict punishment on Nawaz Sharif Following the notification issued by the PML-N president, Maryam Nawaz formally became the second most senior leader of the party after Shahbaz Sharif. Officially, Nawaz Sharif cannot hold any position in the PML-N due to the Supreme Court's decision. However, he remains the supreme leader of the party. Advice for none from any party leader A senior PML-N leader told The News that the decision was undemocratic. Its aim is to carry forward Sharif's political legacy. He said that no senior leader of the party outside the Sharif family was consulted at the time of appointment.
