CWC cannot be above Parliament: BJP passes resolution against Congress's decision to sing only two stanzas of Vande Mataram

The national office bearers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today passed a significant resolution strongly condemning the decision of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) to sing only the first two stanzas of the national anthem 'Vande Mataram'. The BJP clarified that the entire song is a symbol of the national consciousness of the country and as per the law passed by Parliament, it has the same status as the national anthem.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin issued a statement saying that the party unconditionally opposes the decision of the Congress Working Committee to repeat the 1937 resolution and limit Vande Mataram to only two stanzas in its programmes. The resolution states that 'Vande Mataram' is the immortal symbol of faith in Mother India, the mantra of the freedom struggle and the integrity of the country.

The resolution passed by the BJP, citing constitutional and legal validity, said that no resolution of the Congress Working Committee can be above the constitutional institutions of India or the laws made by Parliament. The party alleged that the Congress is compromising the existence of the national anthem under the politics of vote bank and communal appeasement, which is an insult to the martyrs of the country.

According to the resolution, BJP workers will launch a special campaign across the country, through which the history, importance and the glory of ‘Vande Mataram’ will be conveyed to every household. The party said that it is necessary to make the new generation aware of the sacrifices made behind this song.

Nitin Nabin said, "The 'Vande Mataram' which raised the slogan of independence in 1947, the same song will now resonate across the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfill the concept of 'Developed India @ 2047'. National heritage cannot be limited to political gains or vote bank equations."
