India extends Sheikh Hasina's visa, Bangladesh tribunal issues arrest warrant against Hasina

  India has extended the visa of ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This step has been taken at a time when the interim government of Bangladesh is demanding her extradition. Her passport has also been cancelled. A Bangladesh tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against Hasina. It is worth mentioning that the Awami League government led by Hasina fell on August 5 due to violent student protests in Bangladesh. Since then, she has been living in India. According to sources, India has extended the visa of ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This is a technical extension to facilitate her migration. They also claimed that Hasina has not been given asylum. While a source has confirmed that she is living in a safe house in Delhi under tight security. The interim government of Bangladesh led by Mohammad Yunus had made a formal demand for Hasina's extradition on December 23. Bangladeshi authorities have claimed that Hasina should face charges related to her alleged involvement in violence and disappearances during protests in 2024. More than 500 people died in these violent protests.
