Bangladesh: Sheikh Hasina's growing troubles, another case filed against Sheikh Hasina after the shopkeeper's murder

  Dhaka: Bangladesh's ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's troubles are increasing in her country. In the latest development, a case has been registered against Hasina and her former cabinet ministers, among others, for the abduction and disappearance of a lawyer in 2015. This is the second case registered against Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh. Supreme Court lawyer Sohail Rana, the victim of the enforced disappearance case, has filed an application in the matter, reports Daily Star newspaper. The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakeela Sumu Chowdhury ordered to accept the charges as one case.

A case of murder of a grocery shopkeeper has been registered

Earlier on Tuesday, a case was registered against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and six others for the alleged murder of a grocery shopkeeper named Abu Saeed. On July 19, Abu Saeed was killed in police firing during a procession taken out in support of the quota reform movement in Mohammadpur.

The death toll in the violence has crossed 560

Sheikh Hasina's government fell on August 5 following violent protests that had been going on for the past month. Due to protests across the country, the death toll has so far increased to more than 560, while hundreds of people are injured. After widespread protests against the Awami League-led government over the controversial job quota system, Hasina resigned and fled to India on August 5.

Formation of interim government in Bangladesh

An interim government was formed in Bangladesh after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. The interim government is headed by 84-year-old Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
