A federal judge in America on Thursday ordered President Donald Trump to appear until December 11 to testify in his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC. The order by US Magistrate Judge Angelique Lett came as lawyers for the British broadcaster complained that Trump was late in appearing in his own trial. BBC lawyer Charles Tobin said, "With two months left in the evidence-gathering period, we have not yet been able to take the petitioner's statement." Federal law requires current and former employees to obtain approval from agency heads before testifying in court cases. Smith has requested permission but has received no response and the judge ruled that the department must respond by November 2.
