Two Punjabi women from Jalandhar and Kapurthala, who were held captive in Oman after being lured with the promise of a good job abroad, have returned home safely with the assistance of Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal. Upon their return to India, they revealed that approximately 130 Indian women remain stranded in Muscat, the capital of Oman, awaiting their return home. The victim from Jalandhar district recounted that she had been sent to Oman under the pretext of a beauty parlor job offering a monthly salary of ₹25,000 to ₹30,000. Upon her arrival, the agent confiscated her passport under the guise of extending her visa, pressured her to engage in illicit activities, and physically assaulted her when she resisted. A sum of ₹2 lakh was demanded for her return, forcing her family to sell their motorcycle to cover the cost. She returned on September 7 with the help of Sant Seechewal.
