  Nepal flash floods: The death toll in Nepal's devastating flash floods rose to 1,252 on Thursday as more bodies were recovered from the affected areas, while thousands of people remain missing more than a week after the disaster. According to figures released by Nepal Police, 355 bodies were recovered from Chitwan district, 218 from Nawalparasi East, 208 from Nawalparasi West (including 18 bodies recovered from India and handed over to Nawalparasi West), and 177 from Nuwakot. Similarly, 127 bodies were recovered from Rasuwa district, 69 from Gorkha, 60 from Dhading and 38 from Tanhun. Joint rescue teams led by the Nepal Army continued their search and rescue operation for the ninth day on Thursday, with the number of missing people estimated at 4,875. Meanwhile, a very emotional scene was witnessed at a monastery in Trishuli, Nepal, where families and locals are offering prayers and performing last rites for loved ones who are missing after flash floods, even though they have no confirmation whether they are alive or dead. At the monastery, people are gathering to pray for those who were swept away in the floods, hoping that the rituals will bring peace to their souls if they have lost their lives. Officials said 11,993 people have been rescued as search and rescue operations continue round the clock.
