Dream of going abroad turned into a nightmare: Couple fed up with thug agents, consumed poison, died

  A case of a couple from Barnala district who were allegedly cheated of Rs 36 lakh in the name of sending them abroad, swallowed poisonous substance in Zirakpur has come to light. In this incident, wife Gagandeep Kaur and husband Hakam Singh have died. According to information, Hakam Singh and Gagandeep Kaur were residents of village Shekha in Barnala district and both had got married for love. It is being told that both were preparing to go abroad. Meanwhile, they were allegedly cheated of about Rs 36 lakh in the name of sending them abroad. After this fraud, both were mentally and financially troubled. During this time, they swallowed some poisonous substance in Zirakpur. When their condition worsened, both were taken to the hospital for treatment, where doctors declared Gagandeep Kaur and Hakam Singh dead. After receiving the information about the incident, the police have started investigating the case. The police are trying to find out who took Rs 36 lakh from the couple in the name of sending them abroad and how this fraud was committed. At present, the police are investigating all aspects of the case. Only after the investigation is completed, the reasons behind this step taken by the couple and the role of the people involved in the fraud of Rs 36 lakh will be clear. Police Station Chief Zirakpur Jasbir Singh Tur while giving information said that the family members have come, due action is being taken on their statement, they have taken the suicide note in their possession, the bodies of both the deceased have been kept at PGI Chandigarh. The case is being investigated.
