India-Canada Relations: Canada and India hopeful about trade agreement talks

  With trade talks between India and Canada on the verge of resuming after a hiatus in 2023, officials from both countries are hopeful that talks on a proposed free trade agreement will move forward soon. According to media reports, there have been signs of positive change during a trade summit held in the city of Regina. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moy, Canadian High Commissioner to India Chris Cooter and Indian High Commissioner to Canada Dinesh Patnaik participated in the ‘Western Canada-India Leaders Summit’ held in Regina. During the summit, the leaders discussed bilateral relations and the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in detail and met with various delegations to reiterate their commitment to boost mutual trade.
