Chinese President Xi Jinping has warned his US counterpart Donald Trump that the US should be more vigilant in dealing with the Taiwan issue, otherwise there could be “clash and confrontation” between the two countries. The two leaders held a wide-ranging discussion on Thursday on the Iran war, energy security and trade. After the first round of talks in Beijing that lasted about two hours, Trump invited Xi and his wife to the White House on September 24. However, both leaders advocated opening the Strait of Hormuz in view of global energy needs. Xi said China and the US have agreed on a “new vision” for building constructive bilateral relations. He said this “new vision” will provide strategic guidance to bilateral relations in the next three years and beyond and should be welcomed by the people of both countries and the international community.
