ED sets target of filing 500 chargesheets

  The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has set a target of filing 500 chargesheets in money laundering cases in the current financial year. The agency said that the investigating officers have been instructed that once a case is registered, except in complex cases, the investigation should be completed within one to two years. The decisions were taken during the 34th Quarterly Conference of Zonal Officers (QCZO) of the central investigation agency held in Guwahati, Assam capital from December 19 to 21 last year. The meeting was chaired by ED Director Rahul Naveen. The agency has been holding these conferences outside Delhi since last year. The previous two meetings were held in Kevadiya (Gujarat) and Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir). “The decision to hold the conference in the North-Eastern region reflects the strategic and operational importance of this region,” the ED said in a statement.
