MSP New List: Big gift to farmers before Diwali, Central Government increases the prices of Rabi crops by this much rupees

  To ensure better prices for farmers, the central government has increased the minimum support price (MSP) for rabi crops for the 2026-27 marketing season. The MSP for wheat has been increased by Rs 160 per quintal. The new MSP for wheat is now Rs 2,585 per quintal. The government is also trying to encourage farmers to cultivate crops like pulses, gram and oilseeds. For this purpose, the MSP for gram, pulses and barley has been increased. Wheat-producing states will benefit The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took this decision on Wednesday. The government believes that this increase will provide farmers with remunerative prices for their inputs and encourage crop diversification. This will directly benefit farmers in wheat-producing states of North India. Wheat, which is currently sold for Rs 2,425, will now be purchased for Rs 2,585. Crops like pulses and mustard can also attract farmers, as their prices have been fixed well above cost. Biggest hike in MSP of sunflower Agricultural experts believe that the increased prices will increase the production of pulses and oilseeds and reduce dependence on imports. Agricultural experts say that the government focuses more on the procurement of crops like wheat and gram. Therefore, farmers will not face any difficulty in selling their produce. This is also considered an incentive to increase the production of pulses and saffron. The biggest increase has been in the MSP of saffron i.e. sunflower, the price of which has been increased by Rs 600 per quintal to Rs 6540. Mustard MSP hiked by Rs 250 The minimum support price of pulses has been increased by Rs 300 to Rs 7,000. The prices of mustard and rapeseed have been increased by Rs 250, gram prices by Rs 225, barley prices by Rs 170 and wheat prices by Rs 160. The government claims that the increase is in line with the budget provisions of 2018-19, which promised to ensure at least one and a half times the cost price. Relief news for farmers This margin is 89 percent for pulses, 93 percent for mustard-rapeseed, 59 percent for gram and 58 percent for barley. This increase in support price for rabi crops is a welcome relief for farmers. Their income is expected to improve with the increased prices. However, farmers face a lot of difficulties due to bottlenecks in the procurement process and lack of timely payments. This needs to be addressed and the procurement process simplified.
