The Department of State Efficiency (DOGE) headed by Elon Musk has decided to cancel several foreign projects. One of these projects is also from Bangladesh. The US government was to provide 29 million US dollars in funds to Bangladesh to strengthen the political scene of Bangladesh. But now Elon Musk's department has canceled the funding. The complete list was released by the US government's efficiency department on the social media website X. It said that the 29 million dollars in funding to Bangladesh has been stopped. Recently, Prime Minister Modi discussed the issue of Bangladesh with US President Donald Trump. Trump had denied the US government's involvement in Bangladesh. He also said that Bangladesh has been left to Prime Minister Modi. What did America do with the funding? The US is working to build capacity among political parties in Bangladesh, part of a program that could strengthen the political landscape. It provides funding to strengthen ties between parties and reduce violence. The program also included university students and political party activists. The Department of Government Efficiency has stopped funding these programs Cambodia has canceled a $9.7 million grant to UC Berkeley. Aid to strengthen independent voices in Cambodia has been cut. $2.3 million will not be received. The Prague Civil Society Center will not receive $32 million. $40 million in aid to the Center for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment has been cut. Serbia will not receive $14 million. The Consortium for Strengthening Electoral and Political Processes will not receive $486 million. Moldova withheld $22 million in funding for an inclusive and participatory political process. India also has $21 million blocked on voting. Bangladesh will not receive $29 million to strengthen political visibility. Nepal’s $20 million funding has been withheld. Nepal’s “biodiversity dialogue” has been withheld for $19 million. $1.5 million will not go to a voter confidence program in Liberia. €14 million in funding for social cohesion in Mali has been suspended. South Africa will not receive $2.5 million in aid. $47 million in aid related to Asia has been withheld. Kosovo’s Roma, Ashkali and Egypt have been withheld for $2 million.
