East Delhi: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visited the slums of Gandhi Nagar on Sunday. He met many families regarding the notices sent for demolishing the slums. He assured that the Aam Aadmi Party will not allow the eviction of these slums under any circumstances. Sisodia alleged that the BJP is giving notices to demolish slums. Sisodia said that families have been living here for 80-90 years. People have lived here for two-three generations. Many children are saying that they study in your schools, how will we study now? He said that the BJP has given a notice to these slum dwellers to vacate the area within 15 days. BJP does not think where these poor people will go. There is no humanity left in BJP leaders. The BJP cannot survive by razing the slums and abusing the poor like this. Arvind Kejriwal stands with these slum dwellers. These slums will not be allowed to be demolished, this is Kejriwal's promise. Sisodia giving misleading statements about slums - BJP The BJP has accused former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of making misleading political statements about Gandhi Nagar slums. Union Minister of State and East Delhi MP Harsh Malhotra, former minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and regional MLA Anil Bajpai issued a joint statement saying that Delhi government's negligence is responsible for the orders to vacate the slums in Gandhinagar. The trio said in the statement that there is an administrative provision in Delhi that no notice to vacate a slum more than 20 years old can be given without the prior approval of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUCIB) of the Delhi government. The slums of Gandhi Nagar are more than six decades old BJP leaders said that these slums of Gandhi Nagar are more than six decades old. It is not possible that the land owning agency issued the notice in Gandhi Nagar slum without the approval of DUSIB department. It would be good if Manish Sisodia instead of giving misleading statements tells the Gandhi Nagar slum dwellers why DUSIB allowed the concerned land owning agency to demolish the slum? If these notices have come without the permission of DUSIB, it means that DUSIB and concerned Ministers are completely cut off from the ground. If the Delhi government wants to save these slums, the DUSIB minister should call a meeting, BJP will give full support.
