US Ambassador Sergio Gor Pays Obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib; Tight Security Arrangements in Place

  US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib in the holy city of Amritsar on Monday. In view of the Ambassador's visit, stringent security arrangements were put in place around the shrine and across the city. Ambassador Gor is touring various parts of India as part of his official visit; he has recently visited Srinagar and Leh as well.

Meanwhile, Iman Singh Mann, Acting President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), has stated that he intends to raise key issues—such as Punjab's welfare, Sikh rights, and India-Pakistan relations—with the US Ambassador during this visit. Speaking on the occasion, Mann stated that this visit is of great significance to the Sikh community and that he would hold a frank discussion with the ambassador regarding the current situation in Punjab and the tensions between India and Pakistan.

Iman Singh Mann remarked that Punjab—particularly the border areas of Amritsar—faces a grave threat due to the escalating tensions between the two nations. Citing 'Operation Sindhur' and the 'Indus Waters Treaty,' he called for the resumption of dialogue between the two countries and the restoration of cooperation regarding water resources. He mentioned that his party had submitted a seven-point memorandum to the US ambassador, which includes demands for US diplomatic intervention to avert a war-like situation between India and Pakistan, the restoration of the Indus Waters Treaty, consideration of the TAPI pipeline project, and the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor for trade, travel, and pilgrimage.
