LPU and Chitkara University Case: Punjab State Women's Commission Takes Suo Motu Notice

Taking a serious view of recent incidents at Lovely Professional University (LPU) and Chitkara University, the Punjab State Women's Commission has taken *suo motu* notice of the entire matter. The Commission has sought a response regarding the safety of female students and the police action taken at the campuses of both major universities.

Expressing concern over the incidents, Raj Lali Gill, Chairperson of the Punjab State Women's Commission, stated, "We have summoned a detailed explanation from the university administrations regarding this entire matter, along with copies of registered FIRs and comprehensive reports on the robust arrangements made for the safety of students—particularly female students—across both campuses. The safety of female students is our top priority, and accountability and transparency in this matter are absolutely essential."
