Air India plane enters Pakistani airspace

Air India's Delhi-Amritsar flight AI-321 strayed from its route and entered Pakistan's airspace. It is worth noting that relations between the two countries have not been good since the massacre of tourists by terrorists in Pahalgam. The incident that took place on Monday night raised alarm bells.

It has been learned that an investigation is underway into the matter. Sources said that when the plane started receiving warnings from the Pakistan Air Traffic Authority, the pilot came to know about the straying into Pakistan's airspace.

The Airbus AI-321 plane took off from Delhi at 9:18 pm on Monday and was supposed to land in Amritsar at 10:30 pm, but the plane strayed from its route and entered Pakistan's airspace. Sources in the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which manages the Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport, said that the plane had developed a technical fault during the flight.

The local airport control room directed the plane to return to Delhi where it landed safely. After getting the necessary clearance after about 2 hours, the plane took off again for Amritsar and landed here at 2:20 am on the intervening night of June 22 and 23.

As a result, the passengers faced a delay of about four hours. Airport director Bhupinder Singh said that the flight did not go more than one and a half miles into Pakistani airspace. He did not call it anything unusual. When asked about the reason for diverting the flight to Delhi, he said that the pilot had approached the local airport but could not stabilize, hence it was sent back.
