Escaped from Nepal... trapped in India; SSB catches 30 prisoners who escaped from jail; High alert in 7 districts

  In view of the ongoing violence and unrest in Nepal, the Sashastra Seema Bal and police teams are keeping a tight vigil in the border areas adjoining Bihar. People illegally entering the Bihar border from Nepal are also being caught.

On Wednesday, the SSB arrested around 30 prisoners who escaped from Nepal jail from various border areas and checkposts in Bihar. They are being interrogated.

Police teams are jointly patrolling with the SSB in the border districts of West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj. There is a high alert in these districts of Bihar.

Chief Secretary reviews Nepal violence, directs to increase security of public property

In view of the Gen-Z agitation and jail break incidents in Nepal, the government has directed to further tighten and strengthen the security system in the border districts. State Chief Secretary Pratiya Amrit on Wednesday held a meeting with the Superintendents of Police and District Magistrates of all the districts bordering Nepal through video conference in the presence of DGP Vinay Kumar.

The objective of the meeting was to effectively deal with the potential challenges arising out of the recent incidents in Nepal. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary gave several important instructions to all the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police.

He specifically directed to keep a strict vigil on all the people entering Bihar from across the border. He made it clear that no person should be allowed to enter Bihar without permission.

The Chief Secretary asked to keep a strict vigil on prestigious institutions and important structures of the state like bridges, railway stations, power plants, roads etc., so that any untoward incident can be prevented immediately. During the meeting, Pratiya Amrit assured the officers that in case of any emergency or additional assistance required, they can directly contact the Chief Secretary or Director General of Police Vinay Kumar.

This instruction will help the officers to take quick decisions and avoid delay in any situation. Apart from DGP Vinay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police Kundan Krishnan was also present in the meeting. Apart from this, senior officers of the Home Department, all the Divisional Commissioners were also present.
