Pakistan is building a nuclear ballistic missile that can reach America, a step taken to prevent America from interfering with India.

The Pakistani military is secretly developing an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of carrying nuclear weapons, which can reach the US. This report by ‘Foreign Affairs’ comes amid reports that Pakistan is trying to upgrade its nuclear weapons with the help of China after India’s Operation Sindhur. The report, citing US officials, said that if Pakistan acquires such a missile, Washington will declare it its ‘nuclear adversary’. Any country possessing nuclear weapons, which is considered a potential threat or adversary to the US, is considered a nuclear adversary. At present, Russia, China and North Korea are considered adversaries of the US. However, Pakistan has always claimed that its nuclear program is entirely focused on deterring India. Its policy has been to develop short and short-range missiles.

Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) can be equipped with both nuclear and conventional warheads. They are capable of hitting targets at a distance of more than 5,500 km. Pakistan does not currently have any ICBMs. In 2022, Pakistan tested the Shaheen-3, a surface-to-surface medium-range ballistic missile, which can hit targets at a distance of more than 2,700 km. This could put several Indian cities within its range.
