American students expelled from Columbia University for supporting Palestine; won't even get diplomas

  Columbia University in the US expelled some students on Thursday (March 13). All of these students were demonstrating on the college campus in support of Palestine (Israel Hamas war). During the demonstration, these students occupied a building on the college campus. The institution has also decided to cancel the diplomas of the students who participated in the demonstration.

The university said that the students had occupied the college's Hamilton Hall in protest of the war in Gaza. On April 30, 2024, the protesting students had set up a camp in Hamilton Hall and started living there.

After this, the police were called to clear the hall. The police have arrested dozens of people. After this, disciplinary action was taken against the students. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office said that it will not bring criminal charges against 31 of the 46 people.

Student Mahmoud Khalil arrested
US authorities have arrested Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil. According to the US administration, Mahmoud Khalil was described as a Hamas supporter. He was leading demonstrations in support of Palestine on the college campus.

US President Donald Trump has justified the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil. He also indicated that there will be more such arrests in the coming days.

Hundreds of protesters enter Trump Tower
It is worth mentioning that hundreds of protesters entered Trump Tower in Manhattan on Thursday to protest the detention of Palestinian activist and Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil. Along with this, police arrested about 100 people after hundreds of protesters gathered.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained Khalil for attending pro-Palestinian demonstrations at Columbia University. The protest, organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, began in the afternoon.

Protesters wearing red shirts with slogans such as 'Stop Arming Israel' stormed the famous Golden Lobby of Trump Tower. The demonstrators chanted "Free Mahmoud Khalil" and carried banners reading "Never Again for Anyone."
