'I will never present the budget in Ramzan again'! Why did Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah say this?

Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said that he will never present the budget during the fasting month of Ramzan. Talking to reporters after presenting the budget, he said that this is the first budget of the state after 2018 and he has also presented the budget for the first time as the Finance Minister. If ever I have to present the budget during the holy month of Ramzan, then I will request the Speaker to allow me to present the budget after Iftar.

He spoke in the Assembly for one hour and forty minutes and that too without stopping. He was fasting. After presenting the budget, when reporters asked him if there was any problem in giving a speech for two and a half hours during fasting? To this, he said that I think the budget session could have been called earlier.

He said that after today's experience, I will never present the budget in the holy month of Ramzan. Will I call the budget session before or after? If there is ever a session during Pak Ramzan, I will request the Speaker with folded hands to allow me to present the budget after Iftar. The Chief Minister said that I faced some problem after the speech. I was not able to speak properly.

Heartfelt appreciation of the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister
While presenting the budget, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah heartily appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for their cooperation in the economic development of Jammu and Kashmir and other matters. He said that I have met the Prime Minister, Home Minister and other central leaders many times. Everyone has always been cooperative.

Abdullah appeared in traditional attire
Dressed in a traditional Khan suit with a blue blazer and cap, Abdullah began his more than one and a half hour speech with the Persian couplet, Tan hama daag daag shud-pumba kuja kuja neham.. (My whole body is full of wounds, where should I apply ointment).

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah read the budget speech for one hour and forty minutes. During this, the ruling party MLAs scuffled on the tables four times. No member caused any disruption during the budget. Everyone sat comfortably in their seats and listened to the budget speech.
