Trump asks Elon Musk for help for Sunita Williams trapped in space, Tesla CEO responds

Indian-origin American astronaut Sunita Williams has been stranded in space for months. Now President Donald Trump has asked Elon Musk for help. Elon Musk posted about it on X. Elon Musk said that US President Donald Trump had asked him to facilitate the early return of two Boeing Starliner astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been on the space station since June 2024.

The SpaceX CEO claimed that it was terrible that the former President Joe Biden administration had left them on the International Space Station (ISS) for such a long time. Even though NASA had engaged SpaceX several months ago to bring back the two astronauts as part of its Crew-9 mission. Musk said in a post that "@POTUS has asked @SpaceX to bring two astronauts stranded on the @Space_Station home as soon as possible, we will do it." NASA has consistently said that the astronauts are not stranded and are in good health and connected with other people.

How many attempts have been made to bring them back?
- Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams were scheduled to launch to the ISS in June 2024 aboard Boeing's Starliner spacecraft.
- The flight, which was supposed to last just 10 days, faced several challenges.
- After arriving at the space station, NASA and Boeing worked for weeks to better understand the spacecraft's problems but ultimately decided that it was too difficult to bring the Starliner back with the crew.
