'Mohammad Yunus is the mastermind behind attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh', says Sheikh Hasina - I should have been killed

New Delhi: Violence against minority Hindus continues in Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina is in India after the coup in the country. Now Sheikh Hasina has accused Muhammad Yunus, who is leading the interim government, of mass killings and targeting minorities. She alleged that Muhammad Yunus is responsible for the genocide taking place in Bangladesh. Addressing an Awami League event in New York, Hasina criticized Yunus for the continuous attacks on temples, churches and the religious organization ISKCON. Sheikh Hasina said, I am accused of mass killings. But the mastermind of these attacks is Muhammad Yunus.

Attacks on 11 churches and many temples

Sheikh Hasina said that today teachers, police, leaders, everyone are being attacked. Hindus, Buddhists and Christians are being targeted. 11 churches and many temples have been attacked. The former prime minister claimed that there was a plan to kill him like the assassination of her father and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Hasina said she left Bangladesh because she did not want "genocide".

Violence erupts after Chinmaya Prabhu's arrest

The heinous attack on Yunus comes amid a wave of attacks on the Hindu community by hardline Islamists in Bangladesh. The arrest of three Hindu sadhus has further heightened concerns. Hasina fled Bangladesh on August 5 amid violent student protests, after which an interim government led by Muhammad Yunus took over the country. The situation has been deteriorating since the arrest of Chinmaya Prabhu, the president of Bangladesh-based ISKCON Pundarik Dham. People from the Hindu community have taken to the streets to protest Chinmaya Prabhu's arrest.
