Bill passed in Australia to keep children away from internet media, if these platforms do not comply, they will face heavy fines

  Melbourne: A bill to keep children under 16 years of age away from internet media in Australia was passed by the House of Representatives on Wednesday. It has now been sent to the Senate. The bill has the support of the major parties there. It was voted 102 in favor and 13 against.

After the bill becomes law, platforms will have a year to work on ways to implement age restrictions. TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, X and Instagram etc. will be responsible for making arrangements so that children cannot create accounts here and use them. Platforms that fail to do so will be fined more than two and a half billion rupees.
