The issue of South Africa's supply of arms to Russia heated up, Russian President Putin held talks with his African counterpart.

  Cape Town: The matter of supply of arms and ammunition from South Africa to Russia has become hot. On Friday, South Africa's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the American ambassador and questioned him about the accusation. Meanwhile, there is news of a phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The US has accused South Africa of supplying arms and ammunition to Russia for use in the Ukraine war. South Africa has denied this and soon African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor will talk to his American counterpart Antony Blinken in this regard.

Earlier on Thursday, US Ambassador to South Africa Ruben Brighetti said that in December 2022, South Africa loaded weapons and ammunition from its Simon Town naval base onto a Russian ship. South Africa supplied it to Russia after sanctions were imposed on Russia. Brighetti said that this move of South Africa is totally unacceptable for the US. After Brighetti's statement, African President Ramaphosa ordered the Russian cargo ship Lady R.

Russia and Ukraine's own claims about Bakhmut
