PM Narendra Modi will come on August 24 to inaugurate a cancer hospital in Ludhiana, Punjab

  Ludhiana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mullanpur, Ludhiana on August 24 to inaugurate the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center which will promote affordable cancer treatment in the state. Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua reviewed the progress of this prestigious project on Tuesday.

Giving information to the Chief Secretary, Deputy Director of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center Prof. Ashish Gulia said that so far around 300 patients have been treated in the centre.

It may be mentioned that Homi Bhaba Cancer Hospital and Research Center is a health institution with a capacity of 300 beds which is currently partially functional. OPDs of various departments like Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Preventive Oncology, Anesthesia and Palliative Care have been introduced in it. Apart from this, MRI, CT, Mammography, Digital Radiography, LINAC are used for the management of various types of cancer. State of the art facilities like RT, brachytherapy are available. Dr. Gulia also informed about the interaction between Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center New Chandigarh and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Sangrur for reporting various investigations.

Currently the center offers chemotherapy and minor OT for biopsy and superficial surgeries. Day care facilities are also available.

The remaining part of this institution is expected to be completed in about 6 months and all its 300 beds will be functional which will accommodate patients not only from Punjab but also from various neighboring states like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. World class services for cancer treatment will be provided.
