There is a planned attempt to defame Nehru's legacy: Sonia Gandhi

  Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has come down heavily on the attempts to destroy and diminish the legacy of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, terming it a planned attempt to rewrite history and destroy the foundations of the nation.

Sonia Gandhi accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of defaming Jawaharlal Nehru's legacy, claiming that their aim is to "destroy the social, political and economic foundations" of the country.

Speaking at the launch of the Nehru Centre India at Jawahar Bhawan in the national capital on Friday, she said, "There should be no doubt that the main objective of the ruling establishment today is the project of defaming Jawaharlal Nehru. Their aim is not just to erase him, but to destroy the social, political and economic foundations on which our nation was founded and built."
